Cooking Tip
Powdered Sugar

Also known as confectioner’s sugar, powdered sugar is readily available in the baking section of most major supermarkets. Powdered sugar is simply granulated sugar that has been ground down to a finer consistency. Supermarkets offer several degrees of fineness for purchase. Powdered sugar has an anti-caking agent added to the sugar to keep it from clumping. Powdered sugar can be made at home by grinding granulated (white table) sugar in a coffee grinder.

Cooking Tip
Pecans

Pecans have a butter flavor, with a slightly crunchy exterior and smooth interior. Pecans are available for purchase in their shell or shelled. The shelled variety come in whole, half, and pieces varieties. Most supermarkets carry pecans displayed with other nuts or near baking products. As nuts can be expensive, keep your eye on sales especially leading up to the holidays, when they are in demand.
