Chocolate Hazelnut Pie

Filling prepared from cream cheese, hazelnut spread, sugar, eggs, and chopped toasted hazelnuts. Filling is spooned into chocolate cookie pie crust and baked in hot oven. Topping prepared from heavy cream, sugar and vanilla is spread over the filling and pie is garnished with hazelnut pieces and chocolate chips.

Ingredients -
1 (8 ounces) package Cream Cheese, softened
1/3 cup Hazelnut Spread
1/2 cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 cup Toasted Hazelnuts, chopped
1 Chocolate Cookie Pie Crust
1 cup Heavy Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips
 
Preparation:

1. Turn the oven to 325 degrees and preheat.

2. Combine the cream cheese, hazelnut spread and half of the sugar in a medium mixing bowl.

3. Using an electric mixer beat over medium speed until well blended.

4. Add the egg and 1/4 cup of chopped hazelnuts and beat until well combined.

5. Pour the mixture into the piecrust.

6. Bake the pie for 30 minutes or until the center is set.

7. Remove the pie from the oven and cool completely.

8. In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream, remaining sugar and vanilla.

9. Beat until medium peaks form.

10. Spread the topping over the pie and sprinkle with the remaining hazelnut pieces and chocolate chips.

11. Serve and enjoy.

Heavy Cream

Heavy cream is also known as whipping cream. It is liquid in form, can be found in the dairy section of most supermarkets, and is packaged in small cardboard containers. Heavy cream when whipped with an electric beater will double in volume.

Hazelnut spread is a blend of toasted hazelnuts, skim milk and cocoa. It can be found in most supermarkets along with products for baking or in the section with other nut spreads such as peanut butter.
